Masonic Youth Department offers Free Tutoring
On Wednesday, January 7, 2015 the Order of the Knights of Pythagoras and Phyllis S. Byrd Youth Fraternity held their inaugural tutoring session.
Today’s students are preparing to enter a global society in which colleges and businesses are demanding more than ever before. To ensure that our children are ready to enter college and workforce after high school we are providing multifaceted academic enrichment programs for students in grades K - 12th. Our mission is to encourage our children to strive for academic excellence, seek to improve academic performance, bolster self-esteem, and advocate for their individual needs in their educational setting.
Our program is currently operating with rotating tutors and 14 registered students. RW Arthur King, Wor. Robert C. Gunn, Sis. Kim Lacon, Sis. Natasha McCann, Sis. Artrina Washington, AGYD Shirley Evans-Cooley, and GYD Catrice R. Vandross. Our MWGM Norman L. Campbell and GWM Venecia C. Bessellieu have pledged their support and dedicate time on Wednesdays to tutor and mentor our youth.
The tutoring program is free and open to the public. We are available to tutor and provide homework assistance in the areas of Science, Math, Technology, Reading, History, Handwriting and English to student in grades K-12.
Thank you to WM Maxine Miller, WP James Taylor and the Officers and members of Prince Hall Chapter No. 5 for providing our end of year repast.
