Youth Serving Youth of the Washington Metropolitan Area

In February 7, 2015 at the Joint Youth Prayer Breakfast we Spread the Warmth and Love by giving over 300 warm clothing items (coats, socks, scarves, hats, and socks) to the children of Orr Elementary School in Southeast Washington, DC. Orr Elementary School is a Title 1 school where 100% of the children receive Free or Reduced Meals indicating that they are below the poverty line.

In April, Princess Chaplain Alaina Wheeler joined members of the Order of the Knights of Pythagoras at the MWPHGL Annual Prostate Cancer Walk . After our May meeting, eighteen members of the Youth Fraternity and members of the Knights of Pythagoras joined to attend the 1st Annual Stroke Awareness Day sponsored by Roderick Dunston Foundation at the 2 nd Chance Furniture Thrift Store.

In July the Youth Fraternity assisted the Order of the Knights of Pythagoras and Director Galbraith A.M.E. Zion Church Outreach Ministry in hosting a cookout to help feed the hungry. In August we donated funds to purchase a cheer basket and visited our new member Prince Delonte’ Coleman who was homebound after two surgeries. We continue to pray for Prince Coleman as his health has not allowed him to return to the Youth Fraternity. September 10, 2015 Phyllis S. Byrd and the Order of the Knights of Pythagoras united again for a Masonic Youth Day of Service.

We hosted a Jeans for Teens campaign and gave over 340 jean items to the Covenant House of Washington, DC to cloth teens that have been displaced from their homes. Over one hundred toiletry bags were prepared and given to Friendship Place the charity of Princess Matron Jenger I.J. Rhone. Seventy-five snack bags were prepared and donated to the Ronald McDonald House of DC the charity of Prince Patron Arndre TJ Hudson. We had scheduled however had to postpone due to inclement weather our Playground Beautification Project at the Association for Renewal in Education, A.R.E. INC .

The Playground Beautification Project was held on Saturday, September 19. November 24, 2015, we donate six Thanksgiving Baskets to our families. We greatly appreciate donations made by PC Shirley Evans Cooley of Princess Eleanor Court Cyrene Crusaders and PM Felicia Alexander on behalf of Emmanuel Court No. 1 Cyrene Crusaders and Starlight Riders Motorcycle Club, Woodbridge, VA. This year we were also honored to help lead the Pack to “Bridge the Gap” and participate in the Million Youth Peace March.
